Fear and Anxiety of Coronavirus


Covid-19 has infected millions around the globe. Since, the cure for this lethal virus has not been discovered; it is causing severe mental health issues.  Due to the advancement of technology there is influx of information data, which is almost available in real time. Secondly, due to the lock down people tend to kill their time on the internet or watching television, and almost every update is about Covid-19. Therefore, being constantly exposed to the news about Coronavirus, the listener becomes paranoid/ depressed. The most agonizing factor about this virus is the speed with which it transfers to the other person, this means if God forbid a person becomes infected, and the person is putting the whole family or his colleagues in office at risk. It is reported that more patients are having breakdowns since the pandemic has hit Pakistan. This paranoia effect the immune system, it is a known fact that when a person is under stress his/her immune system doesn’t work properly. Therefore, such people are at greater risk. Another factor that has caused people to stress out is that Coronavirus has destroyed theirlifestyles; one could not go out to workout / socialize or do any other recreational activity.
There are a number of ways by which you can avoid stressing out due to Covid-19 and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Firstly, limit your screen time, it is a known fact the blue light disturbs your sleep; lack of sleep will hinder functions of your immune system. Secondly, there are free online exercise secessions on YouTube which can be easily done in your living room. Last but not the least one should eat healthy homemade food, fruits and avoid junk food. Although, Covid-19 is a lethal virus, but following SOP’s defined by the government can help prevent you from any untoward situation.
